Event Announcement Official Media Partner
Lagos, Nigeria — 7 September 2026
Lagos will host West Africa’s first dedicated PropTech priority summit on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, when APPTSUMMIT 2026 — the Africa PropTech Priority Summit — makes its debut at the Lagos Oriental Hotel. Organised by PropTech RoundUp Technologies, the one-day event is designed to bring together PropTech founders, real estate developers, institutional investors, financiers and policymakers from Nigeria, the wider continent and international markets including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Brazil, Egypt and India.
Property News Africa has been appointed Official Digital Media Partner for the summit and will provide pre-event, event-day and post-event coverage. In the interests of transparency, that relationship is disclosed here and in all related coverage; our editorial assessment below remains independent.
A summit built around five priorities
The inaugural edition runs under the theme “Prioritizing Africa’s Real Estate Future”, with the programme structured around five strategic priorities: technology adoption, capital formation, policy alignment, ecosystem collaboration and housing accessibility. According to the organisers, the format is deliberately execution-focused, combining keynote conversations, fireside chats and high-level panels with an evening Investor Mixer & Dinner Night intended to create a more targeted environment for introductions and deal conversations.
The organisers expect 200 delegates and more than 30 speakers, with final attendance to be confirmed on the day.

What the programme will cover
The published agenda themes lean heavily on capital and governance rather than product demos. Sessions flagged by the organisers include building an Africa–MENA real estate corridor, lessons from Latin America’s PropTech ecosystem, de-risking capital deployment through governance, what early-stage investors actually look for in African PropTech, private debt and structured finance for PropTech growth, and public–private partnerships for large-scale housing delivery.
Two sessions will be of particular interest to Lagos landlords and developers: a discussion of Lagos State’s real estate regulatory framework and the proposed Tenancy and Recovery of Premises Bill, and a session on the business of luxury real estate in Nigeria. Other topics include housing accessibility and new ownership models, construction delivery and materials technology, PropTech compliance and legal structure, the “last-mile” challenge of property operations in Africa, and trust infrastructure as a precondition for PropTech adoption.
The context: why Lagos, why now
The summit arrives at a moment when Nigeria’s property sector is carrying more of the national economy than at any point in recent years. Real estate accounted for roughly 12.7% of GDP in the second quarter of 2026, as we reported in our analysis of the NBS Q2 data, while Lagos rents have risen sharply against stagnant household incomes — a dynamic explored in our earlier coverage of the city’s rental squeeze. Nigeria’s housing deficit — officially put at 14.925 million units by the National Housing Data Technical Committee, and closer to 28 million once structurally deficient stock is included — remains the underlying demand story that PropTech founders and their investors are pitching against.
The Gulf and Latin American presence is the most distinctive element. Saudi and Emirati capital has become increasingly visible in African real estate over the past two years, and Brazil’s PropTech sector is widely cited as a template for emerging-market property technology at scale. Bringing both into the same room as Nigerian developers and founders is a first for the Lagos market, and it gives the summit a clear reason to exist beyond the usual conference circuit.
What this means for African property investors
For developers and operators, the practical value of APPTSUMMIT lies in direct access to international PropTech VCs and GCC-based capital in a single room, plus early visibility on Lagos State’s tenancy and regulatory direction. For founders, the presence of Antler Africa, Terracotta Ventures and Alknz Ventures represents a rare concentration of active PropTech investors on Nigerian soil, and the Investor Mixer & Dinner Night is structured specifically to turn those introductions into conversations.
As with any inaugural event, delegate and speaker numbers are organiser projections, the programme may evolve before the day, and ticket tiers and speaker line-ups should be confirmed on the official website before booking. Attendance does not guarantee deal flow or investment outcomes, which ultimately depend on the quality of the conversations each participant brings.
Our view: with Nigerian real estate now contributing 12.7% of GDP and international PropTech capital actively looking for African exposure, the timing is right for a dedicated summit of this kind. For anyone building, funding or regulating property technology in West Africa, 13 October is a date worth being in Lagos for.
